20 August 2025, Bangkok, Thailand, Asset World Corporation (AWC), Thailand’s leading integrated lifestyle real estate group, joins forces with Arun Plus Company Limited, a key player in integrated electric mobility solutions, to develop “Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique,” Thailand’s first electric rubber-tire sightseeing tram powered by 100% clean energy. This pioneering green transport initiative exemplifies environmentally conscious travel and serves as a model for eco-friendly mobility supporting Chiang Mai’s conservation tourism vision.
Reflecting a contemporary interpretation of Lanna identity, the tram connects major historical and cultural sites around the Chiang Mai moat. It also offers a new environmentally friendly travel option through over 1,500 private parking spaces at AWC-affiliated properties on the city’s outskirts, enabling visitors to park and continue their journey on the electric tram, reducing car usage within the old city and integrating seamlessly with the upcoming “Lannatique,” a new world-class lifestyle landmark in the heart of Chang Khlan district. This project embodies the shared vision of AWC and Arun Plus to reshape the urban landscape through innovative, balanced mobility that connects people, places, and culture, under the shared mission of “Building Better Future For All.” “Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique” is set to officially launch alongside “Lannatique” in late 2025, marking a new chapter in strengthening Chiang Mai as a truly global sustainable tourism destination.
Mr. Michael Hariz, Chief Commercial Business Officer of Asset World Corporation, stated: “AWC is truly delighted to extend our collaboration with Arun Plus in making ‘Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique’ a reality. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to driving innovation that connects cities, people, and local cultures in a balanced way through an environmentally friendly green mass transit system designed with conservation and green tourism in mind.
The tram, featuring its distinctive Lanna design, links key historic attractions, surrounding communities, and the ‘Lannatique’ project, which will become the new center for contemporary art and culture in Chang Khlan. Net revenue from the project will support sustainable local community initiatives in Chiang Mai, aligning with our goal to create a better future for all.
We believe that cross-sector collaboration will generate economic, social, and environmental value while empowering Thai enterprises as pivotal contributors to the electric vehicle industry’s growth alongside urban development. This aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly the promotion of clean energy, climate action, and partnerships for sustainable development—foundational elements for balanced, long-term urban growth.
At the same time, we remain committed to enhancing the quality of life for local communities, strengthening together as Chiang Mai evolves into a truly global sustainable tourism destination.”
Arun Plus Co., Ltd., a comprehensive electric vehicle provider, revealed: “We are deeply honored to be part of the ‘Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique’ project, which marks a significant milestone for Thailand in developing an electric public transport system that integrates sustainable mobility with conservation tourism. We take great pride in collaborating closely with AWC to design and develop Thailand’s first electric rubber-tire tram, ensuring top-tier performance in technology, safety, and comfort, all while expressing Lanna’s unique character in a contemporary form. The tram is harmoniously integrated into Chiang Mai’s urban context and is equipped with air conditioning and high-efficiency air filtration systems capable of filtering PM2.5, thus improving air quality and passenger experience. We have prioritized domestically manufactured automotive components and local assembly by Thai businesses to foster a robust national EV industry grounded in quality, safety, and international standards. We are confident that this project will not only mitigate environmental impact but also serve as a crucial prototype for future mobility, fully aligned with sustainable urban development. It further reinforces the trust between Arun Plus and AWC as we jointly advance high-potential projects and expand this collaboration to other promising AWC ventures in the future, supporting Thailand’s sustainable tourism journey.”

Developed under the concept of Innovative and Sustainable Tourism, the “Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique” will connect key historic, artistic, cultural, and local community attractions, including over 40 well-known restaurants, cafes, and check-in spots along two main service routes encircling Chiang Mai’s moat such as Tha Phae Gate, Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan, Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, Warorot Market, “Lannatique,” The Pantip Lifestyle Hub, and AWC-affiliated hotels, which offer over 1,500 parking spaces in total, before continuing their journey into the city via a clean, environmentally friendly public transportation system.
The standout features of the “Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique” include its meticulous design rooted in sustainable travel principles: environmentally friendly technology, aesthetics harmonizing with Chiang Mai’s context and identity, and 100% electric propulsion, with a range of up to 180 kilometers per full charge, and complies with international safety and quality standards, including UNECE R100. This ensures a safe, reliable, and quality daily commuting experience, promoting better urban living and supports the transition to clean, eco-friendly travel.
Additionally, “Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique” is part of the broader development of “Lannatique” a world-class lifestyle landmark in Chang Khlan. This new destination will seamlessly blend Lanna traditions and contemporary culture under the concept of “The Heart of Lanna Art Movement,” celebrating over 700 years of rich Lanna heritage through a “Contemporary Art Village.” The project will harmonize cultural legacy with modern creativity, healthy lifestyles, and world-class community products, inspiring and perpetuating Lanna culture within the context of the modern world.

“Lannatique” and “Chiang Mai Tram By Lannatique” are scheduled to open in late 2025, playing a pivotal role in supporting Chiang Mai’s long-term city development as a model of creative and sustainable tourism. The project reflects AWC’s mission of “Building Better Future For All,” creating a future where culture, community, and sustainability thrive together.
